I just finished The Glass Castle. I want everyone out there to go and get this book and read it. It is a great book. It's a little bit depressing but it makes you realize how much we are all alike and how much someone can go through and still make it. It's a true story from someone named Jeannette Walls. She has an amazing story. She came to the Salt Lake City Library back in November and I went to hear her talk. This was a book that my school required us to read for our psych nursing class. I didn't finish it until now. I don't have a lot of time to read. Now I'm reading "Losing It-And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time. I'm only on the
2nd chapter and I don't want to put it down.

cleaning lady please?
Ok, now that I'm back from my vacation and I'm done with school and things are pretty stable with work, I have had to look at how disorganized and dirty my poor house is. It needs some serious cleaning and organizing. I love having an organized house but I have no time to get it that way. Oh, how I wish I could get a cleaning lady to come in every day and take care of all the stuff I don't want to do. Laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, picking up clutter etc... And while we're at it, how about a personal assistant to take care of all the stuff I don't have time to do. Pay bills, grocery shop, make appointments, ... Only in my dreams will that happen :-( Do any of you guys have someone come in and clean?

EW!
While I was in Europe, Tyson got a tick while he was playing outside. He didn't know what it was but he knew it was something alive sticking out of his leg. He decided to cut as much of it off as he could and he pulled out as much as he could with tweezers. When I got home, he had this nasty looking bullseye spot on him. I took him to the doctor because a sign of Lyme's Disease is a bullseye spot. The doc pulled on some dead skin that was in the middle of the spot and there was a tiny little piece of the tick still in his leg. Once he pulled that out, the spot started dramatically going down by the next day. It gave me the willys. The next day, I found a tick crawling on Ruffles after he went out for a walk. Yucky!
Woo Hoo!
A new Harmons grocery store just opened up right by me. Not only are they a grocery store but they have a section that has all this food that you can buy that they have prepared. They have everything imaginable. They have a carving station that has all sorts of meats, they have salads, meat dishes, casseroles, side dishes, a huge salad and potato bar, everything! And they make everything there at the store so it's fresh and it tastes great! I also just noticed today that they have a gellato ice cream station which is the ice cream they make in Italy. I have been craving gellato since I left Italy. Italy knows how to make ice cream! I might never have to cook dinner again!

Vacation over
We are back. We had the best vacation of all time. We left Carisa behind. She stayed in Italy for a semester of school and will be back in June. Lucky dog! I would love to stay there for a summer. She is there to learn Italian. I am so jealous!
We went to Spain, Malta, Italy (Naples, Rome and Florence), France, and Ireland. I would say that Florence, Ireland, and France were my favorite places. Everything there is so old but very beautiful. I can't wait to go back. I'm already considering going to pick up Carisa from Italy when she comes back.

Heaven
I am still on vacation and we are in Dublin Ireland at the moment. We only have tomorrow left and I am quite sad to be leaving here. I do miss my kids that stayed home and am very excited to see them. I am ready to have a break from the ones that I brought although! Dublin is a nice city and the people here are very friendly. I love their accents and the words that they use. Today we took a tour of Dublin city and saw a bunch of old buildings like a church that was built in the year 1200. Tomorrow we are going on another bus tour but it will be along the coast south of Dublin. It will be very pretty I'm sure.
I am not excited to go back to work. I feel like I need another week or so once I get home just to relax and recuperate. My feet and ankles are so swollen, I feet look and feel like I am pregnant!
I'll post some pics when I get home. Cheers!

Code Blue
Ok, the night before I left for my vacation, I had to work. Well, it was turning out to be a night from you know where. My first 2 patients were 2 men who attempted suicide. I hate that. Then as soon as I get them settled in their beds, this lady came running toward us saying her husband wouldn't wake up and he was gasping for air. So we run down to his room and turn the light on and holy crap, the guys whole head was totally purple. I have never seen anything like it and don't really care to see it again. I have been waiting for this day to happen not because I was excited about it or anything, but they have trained us to be prepared and to know what to do in this kind of situation. We have run many mock codes but I had no idea what I should do. I'm sure glad the patients nurse knew what to do, even though it was her first code. She was awesome. I'll know what to do next time. I just had to have a practice run with a real patient! It turns out the guys was on a pain med pump, where he gets to push a little button every time he wants pain meds. The policy is, only the patient is to push to button. Well, his wife, who was trying to be helpful, thought she would push the button for her husband. Well, she about killed the man. He was only 33! I know she felt stupid and horrible.
